If you are thinking about purchasing for your small dog my recommendation would be to purchase for a taller dog, or a short one that doesn't want to know where it's going....

Outward Hound Sling-Go Pet Sling 1 ea Review

(More customer reviews)A woman that is passionate about animals writes this review. We have three 4-year-old Turkish Angora cats that share our home. The cats believe themselves to be human and like to go where their human parents go. Being an overly obsessive cat parent I did not want their little feet on the pavement and purchased this sling.
The cats love this thing! They jump inside the pouch and like to poke their heads out and watch where we are going. The pouch is deep enough that they can pull themselves completely into the pouch and take a nap when tired and still feel safe in their little "nest". The top of the pouch has elastic around it that allows it to close up a little around the animal. Because cats like small places this is perfect for a feline. There are two clips inside the pouch that I attach to their harness and leash to make certain that they don't accidentally get loose.
The material feels like a heavy canvass on the outside and nylon on the inside. The nylon interior means that cat fur is easy to remove. The strap has a small (2" by 3") pocket on the outside that is the perfect size for a key and a few dollars. The shoulder strap is also adjustable.
This bag is very roomy. There is enough room for all three of my cats on the inside at one time. I know this because they all crawled in together to check it out as soon as it came into the house. My cats are reasonably small (5, 7 and 8 pounds) but they did still have a little room to spare.
If you have small or medium size pets that like to go out, or just like to be close to you I highly recommend this product. My cats enjoy using this sling inside and outside the house. We (the cats and I) started using this product inside the house so that they could get used to it. Within 24 hours they were ready for a little trip and they and their human mother felt confident that they were safe.

East Side Collection Reversible Pet Sling Black/Pink Review

Outward Hound Sling-go-Pet - RED Review

(More customer reviews)I love this carrier. We have a little 6 pound Morkie and wanted to take her places with us but she is so little we worried about people stepping on her if she was on her leash. This puts her close to me and lets me have my hands free. We watched the 4th of July parade and Belle was scared a couple times but she just ducked in side her "pocket" as we call it and all was well! I really like the across the shoulder style as it takes the weight off my back.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this bag before heading on vacation because I wanted a hands free way to carry my 7 pound Morkie around. If I could make one suggestion, it would be that it was made in different colors/prints (even though he doesn't know it was pink, I would have liked a different color one :) )My puppy LOVES his bag, will climb into it if I leave it on the floor and never hesitates when I put him inside. It carries his weight well (feels like Im carrying nothing) and there is plenty of room for him in there. He loves that he can sit up and see what it going on and then has plenty of room to lay down and relax. There is alot of mesh-y areas for the bag to breathe as well. Its made of sturdy materials and was money well spent!

Esc Reversible Sling Pet Carrier Brown/Blue Os Review

(More customer reviews)The sling information is clear that this is not for dogs over 10 lbs, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway since my pug is quite scrawny, though she is 13 lbs. She does fit in the sling but there is not enough fabric covering and containing her unfortunately. It's too bad because this is a nice product and it is reasonably priced. If you have a really small dog, ir is a worthwhile purchase.
My feedback to the manufacturer would be to please incorporate a larger size into the offerings.

Kyjen Outward Hound Pet Sling Black Review

(More customer reviews)I am convinced the reason it is so difficult to find this product in pet stores (one even told me they didn't think these were made anymore), is because it would make so many other much more expensive (and more cumbersome) ways of porting a small dog around obsolete! I'm not talking about when you need to have the puppers enclosed (like on a bus or plane),
but if you're looking to go marsupial with your best-beloved bud, for a quick run to the mailbox in the rain, or anytime you want to keep 'em close and comfy -- and not burden your back over-much -- this is the one! I have hunt around and spent bucks, but neither I nor mine is happier with any other one than this. (Don't you think Outward-Hound should send me a free one now...? No? Oh well, that's okay :)
By the way, my dog is a Pekingese who now weighs about 12 lbs and she fits just about right -- but you wouldn't want to go much heavier.

(More customer reviews)We have a 17 year Dachshund. She's the hardest dog to fit. She's a tweeny, weighing in at 16 pounds, though quite long (just under a foot and a half). She's about 10" tall. We were afraid she might not fight in this sling, but she loves it. She can let her front paw hang down, which she loves to do, and once you've adjusted it for your body, it comfortable to wear for about 45m before having to switch sides. We have a 5 year old golden mix and hate having to leave our old lady at home just because she can't keep up. Now we can let her walk until she's tired and just plop her in here (we always lay a blanket down and an ice pack under if the heat is high). We can even take her on the bike for short, quick-movement-free bike rides. The pack can hang in the front or back or on the hip. There's even a little pocket, though we think it's for a cell phone, we use it for poo bags. I'd recommend this to anyone with a slightly larger small dog.
