(More customer reviews)I think this product is very cute, well designed and well made, but I wish it had more size adjustments. I had originally bought size small/medium when I thought I was adopting a dog (sight unseen in another city) and I just guessed at the size. I didn't get that dog but got another dog and the s/m was too loose for her even with everything tightened up all the way. The vest part itself was too big and loose.
This company graciously accepted the return and issued a refund. I was hesitant about trying another size through the mail but there aren't many options available locally. After looking around, I ordered the XS.
The XS vest portion and neck portion fits my dog perfectly but we can't come close to clasping the rear buckles and straps. There just isn't much adjustment room. We need 3" or 4" more strap to go around the stomach portion of her body. I am keeping it and may add extensions myself. Or I may just use the seat belt strap with her regular harness.
Dogs come in a variety of shapes and sizes and they should build in more adjustment room. Another reviewer mentioned that there is a size gap between the XS and S/M. All the other sizes overlap, but there is a 2" gap between XS and S/M.
My dog is a 13# shih tzu/terrier mix. Her chest measures 18.5" at its broadest so she falls in the size gap but she needs a lot more than a half inch for it to fit, and the next size up was also unusable.
Beware, the directions are screwed up. If you follow them, the vest would end up on the dog's back rather than its chest as in the illustration. Just go by the illustration and make sure the D-ring is on the dog's back towards their tail.
