It's pretty thin and isn't all suede - the actual bed part where the dog lays is a white polyester blend kind of material. I bought these for my dogs kennels, I had to put pillows or blankets underneath the dog bed so it'd be comfortable enough for them.

(More customer reviews)I have 3 of these beds in various sizes, one for each of our dogs. The best part about them is that they can be easily washed and dried at home, even the 36" size. And, of course it is nice that my dogs love them too. The beds are not very thick, but dogs can be found to lie on a bare floors and so this has to be better. I have bought thick padded beds in the past and my dogs did not use them as much as these. These seem just enough for my dogs, and they can be easily topped with a folded blanket if you have a dog that likes more padding. Almost forgot, the dogs love to rest their heads on the tubular rim of the beds.

I have several sizes, one that fits in a large crate, one that goes in the dog house, and the rest are just for laying on in different rooms. These are loved by my cats as well as my dogs. I have washed them and they came out like new, being as they are tufted, the stuffing can't all bunch in one place. The bottom is non skid, so it stays in place. They are thicker than alot of pads I have seen for crates and such, which I think makes them more comfy.

Coleman Xpedition Pet Carrier Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this based on previous customers' reviews, plus I trust the Coleman name. It isn't that this is such a bad product, but it has two flaws that, had I realized before, would have kept me from buying it.
First, it is stable when it is all zipped up, but not when one end is open. If your large pet kitty struggles being put in, this can be a little frustrating. My old pet carrier had little sockets that ran down the top on each side that you would slide rods into, thus, keeping it rigid when in use, then removing them when you wanted to fold it flat for storage. ...But this flaw is minor, and is in fact manageable, but nevertheless, worth mentioning.
The second is far worse, in my opinion--I didn't realize that the nice plush soft pad is permanently attached to the frame. The first time I used it, my cat peed in it at the vet... wouldn't it be nice if that plush pad were removable and could be tossed in the wash?? Nope. The whole apparatus got washed by hand in my kitchen sink (not just "spot" cleaned as per manufacturers' recommendation--sorry, not good enough for cat pee, thank you very much), and is now drying in the sun in my back yard. Who knows how long that will take in the middle of February?
Other than that, it is a well made product. Sturdy, etc. And it does fold nicely for storage.
