(More customer reviews)I have found nothing in a search for custom cat carriers. Now, what's good for a dog is a Godsend for cats!
Our two 13-lb cat boys are miserable if not crated together during travel. Their hard-shelled medium dog crate was so heavy to lift by the center handle. I felt so sorry for them on 8-hour (or longer) trips. They couldn't see out except for the front or upper side slats; the crate was too small for a litter box, let alone for the two of them. One boy can't make it the first 1/2 mile, and the other can't make it the last 1/4 mile before they HAVE to go.
During one long trip, they were uncharacteristically fussy. To solve the issue of needing a litter box, I picked up one 40-lb Canvas Crate enroute and faced it to their hard-shelled crate, in which I put a disposable litter box (used during the last 1/4 mile as predicted!). This setup worked well but the two crate styles didn't join well.
I bought a second Canvas Crate days later and joined the two at the mesh door ends with heavy-duty Velcro to keep them securely together.
One crate for them; one for the litter box. They love the new setup! Airy and tall, they can walk around each other, and they sleep well when they aren't watching the world go by. Air flow is more than adequate. They get fresh air from the front, and the litter box smell (if used) gets pulled to the rear vent window until our next pit stop. No more pulling over to remove a soiled top layer of padding or trying to keep them in the crate while wiping one of them down.
Two canvas crates fit perfectly on top of the folded-down back seat in our SUV. In a car, we would get the next size down. Not a safe as a hard-shell crate in event of an accident, but the frame is very sturdy and easy to assemble.
They can now have a good breakfast on travel day, food and water during the trip, and I don't have to worry about crossed legs, the agony of "holding it until we get there" or if the trip takes longer than 8 hours.
We don't wait, why should our pets?

(More customer reviews)These are expensive dog kennels, I got that. But I have a special use for them, I use them in the baggage area of my 4 seat airplane. I put it in there, pop it up and my lab. is eager to jump right in and off we go. I like it as the dog has plenty of ventilation and the mesh screens keep dog hair in the kennel.

(More customer reviews)Overall this carrier is well made, my only complaint is that there is no support system on the top arching cover so it sags big time on the sides. It says it will fit dogs upto 75lbs but my dogs are 50-60 lbs and they just fit - if your dog is bigger I would choose a dfferent carrier with more head clearance. Hope this helps!

(More customer reviews)This is a good crate, but it's not made with the best quality of materials. I chose this crate because it was cheaper than many of the other ones and I'm happy with it overall. But, the zippers don't slide very easily and the side supports are more flimsy than other crates I've looked at. It's a crate that works well for temporary settings and it's very lightweight compared to my wire crate -- but, it's not very sturdy, so make sure your dog is well-behaved and doesn't claw at the bottom of the crate.
I do like the fact that three sides have zippers, so you can easily access your dog or drop treats in from the top. There is also a treat bag that comes with it and a place for your dog's ID on the crate. There is a handle on the side for easy transportation when the crate is folded. It also comes with a pad that is soft on one side and slick on the other (so you can use it for hot or cold days), which is nice.
Overall, it's a good crate but it could use a few small improvements. If you're looking for something to stand up to tougher dogs or to use every day, you might want to look for a heavier-duty crate. If you're looking for something to travel with and use on an occassional basis, this is a pretty good bargain.

Pet Gear Home 'N Go Deluxe Soft-Sided Pet Crate, Small, Red Poppy Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this soft sided pet crate in hopes that my new Yorkie Terrier, Brando, would have a safe haven to welcome him home.
Since he is such a tiny guy, this crate offers both a play area and a bedroom.
The construction is very durable and the color (red, my favorite) is fun.
I particularly like the three entries and the two storage pouches, one of which is detachable.
So far, he is enjoying the crate. I like the fact that the sides are soft, since he is still in his wobbly stage.
This was a great buy for us.

(More customer reviews)I bought these to put my cats in when we have to go into the basement for storm warnings, instead if trying to frantically cram them into their cat carriers. They all love it so much we keep these set up for them to hang out in all the time. Very well made, easy to set up and take down. I bought the larger size (36x24)for my bigger male cats, which leaves room for a litter box or food dishes if we are hanging out for a longer time, and the smaller one for my female cat. Comes with a nice fleece pad as well as a waterproof pad.
